KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 100 Orang Asli families in Desa Temuan, Bukit Lanjan here received a pack of basic necessities from the Malaysian Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC) through the Santuni MADANI programme today.
The packs, containing rice, flour, cooking oil, milk and salt, is an MDEC initiative in reaching out to the Orang Asli community in conjunction with Ramadan.
MDEC chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil said the programme was part of MDEC’s commitment to ensure the welfare of the community, not only from the digital aspect but a comprehensive social welfare aspect.
Besides the packs, MDEC also presented furniture for the Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Lanjan’s computer lab to boost digital learning facilities.
Anuar Fariz said since 2021, MDEC has implemented various initiatives to empower the Orang Asli community in Desa Temuan, inclduing the #SayaDigital programme that trained 301 participants with digital and entrepreneurial skills.
MDEC also conducted a digital enablement programme by donating 250 laptops to students in the area to allow them to follow online learning and prepare themselves for the digital world.
