SULTAN NAZRIN BREAKS FAST WITH MEDIA PRACTITIONERS, NGOS, CORPORATE BODIES AND YOUTHS

KUALA KANGSAR, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah broke fast with representatives of the media, non-governmental organisations, corporate sectors, the private sector, government-linked companies and youth at Istana Iskandariah here.

The Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim also graced the ceremony.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and his wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubir as well as Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

Apart from the Menteri Besar, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil; Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Broadcasting Department director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman and Media Prima Group Deputy Managing Editor Farrah Naz Abd Karim were also present.

Earlier at the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin also received business zakat cheques from five corporate companies on behalf of MAIPk to a tune of RM3,250,676.

The handover of business zakat at the ceremony was preceded by Boustead Plantations Berhad represented by its Chief Financial Officer Nina Wirasatria Md Husni amounting to RM250,676, followed by the submission of individual income zakat by Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal represented by his son Syed Amir Nidzamuddin amounting to RM2,400,000.

This was followed by Empayar Indera Sdn Bhd represented by its General Manager Datuk Hasrin Abdul Rahman amounting to RM200,000, while the Railway Asset Corporation was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azhar Ahmad with a contribution of RM200,000.

The final zakat handover was by Public Islamic Bank Berhad represented by its Chief Executive Officer Syamsul Azuan Ahmad Fauzi with a total of RM200,000.

Sultan Nazrin also performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers with the guests and later joined the congregation and guests for dinner.
