KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- News reports by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) are highly significant to Istana Negara, said Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Wira Zailani Hashim.
He said that Bernama is one of the media organisations that maintain close relationships and cooperation with the palace.
“Since last year, we at Istana Negara have been distributing bubur lambuk...His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim personally contributed funds as a gesture of appreciation to organisations that have maintained a close relationship and provided consistent cooperation with Istana Negara.
“That is His Majesty’s order, including for Bernama as we recognise that Bernama’s news reports are highly significant to Istana Negara and His Majesty personally. We hope this small contribution of bubur lambuk will have a meaningful impact on the Bernama team,” he said.
He said this after distributing 250 packs of bubur lambuk, made using a special recipe from the Johor palace, to the news agency staff at Wisma Bernama here today.
Also present were Bernama deputy editor-in-chief (News Services) Nasriah Darus and News Services executive editor Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa.
Zailani said during this Ramadan, Istana Negara will distribute more than 6,000 packs of bubur lambuk at selected locations, with consent from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.
He said Istana Negara distributes 750 packs of bubur lambuk to the public every Tuesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development also contributed 300 iftar food packs to Bernama staff.
The ministry’s Corporate Communication Unit senior public relations officer, Norlida Mohd Ibrahim, said that the contribution was a gesture of appreciation for Bernama staff, who have significantly promoted the ministry’s activities.
