MELAKA, March 18 (Bernama) -- In the Pantai Kundor state constituency, the annual 'kacau dodol' (dodol-making) programme remains a cherished tradition, fostering unity and festive cheer ahead of Aidilfitri.
Pantai Kundor assemblywoman Tuminah Kadi @ Mohd Hashim said this year’s event was even more vibrant, as it not only involved local villagers, but also saw participation from government agencies, uniformed bodies, and school students.
“We also received support from enforcement personnel, including officers from the Tanjung Kling police station, the Tangga Batu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), commandos from the Sungai Udang Melaka Camp, and the Prisons Department.
“In addition, the programme was attended by personnel from the Marine Department, private companies, and secondary schools, all of which are located within the Pantai Kundor state constituency,” she told reporters at the event, held at the Pentas Budaya Pantai Puteri, last night.
The programme was officiated by the state’s senior executive councillor (exco) for Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change, and Disaster Management, Datuk Rais Yasin.
Tuminah said that, as part of the programme, 36 groups - including youth and Wanita wings from Pantai Kundor UMNO branches - also took part in the dodol-making activity.
In addition to dodol-making, participants engaged in baking traditional Raya cookies such as lidah buaya, kuih siput, and onde-onde, as well as preparing sup kawah.
“This programme not only strengthens the bonds of unity and harmony among the communities in Pantai Kundor, but also helps preserve our traditions and cultural heritage.
“Activities like this foster a spirit of cooperation, while educating the younger generation to continue these cherished traditions,” she said.
