IPOH, March 20 (Bernama) -- The repayment performance for the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB)-built Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) financing has been very encouraging so far, said SPNB chairman Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila.
Mohd Azmi said that although there are borrowers facing financial difficulties in repaying the home financing, it does not have a significant impact.
“In actuality, the repayment (RMR financing) is reused to build RMR in other areas to help the people have their own homes.
"We always understand their capabilities because some of them have health issues or financial constraints. We always review to see if they can repay or not," he said.
He said this at a press conference after the 2025 Ramadan Charity Contribution and Handover of Offer Letters for the RMR programme, in Perak, which was officiated by state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching here today.
SPNB introduced the RMR programme in 2002, and to date, a total of 69,848 RMR units have been built nationwide, with 7,355 units constructed in Perak.
The price for each developed RMR unit is RM75,000, and each unit receives a construction subsidy of RM20,000 with a payment rate of RM300 per month over a payment period of 16 years.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azmi said that 5,450 RMR units will be built this year and a total of 849 RMR units will be built in Perak, with a total allocation of RM63.67 million.
