AIDILFITRI TOLL DISCOUNT TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON - NANTA

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) -- The government will make an announcement soon regarding the proposed 50 per cent toll discount in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the same method would also be used to decide on the toll discount, just like last Chinese New Year.

“Of course, we will have a toll discount. We have done it for Chinese New Year, it would be absurd if we don’t do it for Aidilfitri.

“Be patient. There are just some details that we need to look into,” he told reporters after attending the ministry’s top management meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Kompleks Kerja Raya here today.

Also present were Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

However, Nanta said the toll discount was not discussed in the meeting.

Instead, he said the Prime Minister gave more emphasis on the need for the implementation of every project in the country to be expedited, in addition to ensuring that it is worth the expenditure incurred.

“We take note of what the Prime Minister wants and his suggestions about having a sense of urgency, the cost of doing business and getting value for money in all of our projects,” he said.

At the same time, Nanta said Anwar also reminded the ministry to improve its performance as the implementing ministry for important development projects in the country.
