PRUBSN STRENGTHENS TA’AWUN VALUES, PROMOTES TAKAFUL AWARENESS

PUTRAJAYA, March 20 (Bernama) – Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN) is reinforcing the values of unity and mutual support through its Ta’awun Ramadan programme, now in its second year.

Under the theme ‘Ukhuwah Berkawah’, the initiative includes a range of charitable, spiritual and sustainability efforts aimed at benefiting communities nationwide.

PruBSN chief executive officer Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail said the principle of Ta’awun, or mutual assistance, is central to the Takaful operations and business.

In Takaful, Ta’awun represents a shared responsibility among participants to support one another in times of risk and hardship, he said.

“This cooperation involves participants contributing to a collective fund, known as the Tabarru fund, to help those facing difficulties,” he said at a media iftar event.

Wan Saifulrizal also noted that a significant proportion of Malaysians remain without financial protection.

“Only around 42 per cent of Malaysians have insurance or Takaful coverage, while the rest remain uninsured. One of the key reasons for this is a lack of awareness about Takaful,” he said.

To address this gap, PruBSN continues to promote financial protection awareness, including through the Ta’awun Ramadan programme.

“In this holy month, we are taking a proactive approach to highlighting the true essence of Takaful, or the beauty of Takaful, which goes beyond just life protection benefits,” he said.

As part of the programme, PruBSN mobilised 600 Takaful consultants and staff as volunteers to prepare and distribute meals in local communities.

A total of 10,000 packs of bubur lambuk and gulai kawah were distributed across several states, including Penang, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.

Wan Saifulrizal also noted that this Ramadan carries added significance for PruBSN as its charitable arm, PruBSN Prihatin, marks its 10th anniversary.

“Since its inception, PruBSN Prihatin has invested over RM28 million in community initiatives, benefiting more than 200,000 individuals in need,” he said.
