KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the Special Financial Aid (BKK) of RM500 to civil servants in Grade 56 and below, and RM250 to retired government employees.
Its president, Datuk Dr Adnan Mat said that the distribution of this aid proves that the national leadership recognises the important role of civil servants as the machinery for implementing government policies, who continue to serve with dedication and integrity.
“It also reflects the government’s confidence in the performance and excellent contributions of civil servants in ensuring administrative stability and the well-being of the people,” he said in a statement today.
“Cuepacs believes that this incentive is not only to lessen the burden on the cost of Aidilfitri preparations but also to inject spirit and motivation to all public service personnel to continue serving with excellence and integrity."
Adnan said Cuepacs is touched by the Prime Minister's concern and sensitivity towards the welfare of civil servants and retirees who are always committed to fulfilling their trust and responsibilities to the people and the nation.
He said although civil servants recently enjoyed a salary increase which was announced last year and the provision of the Special Financial Assistance (BKK Schooling) last February, the tradition of providing BKK every time before Aidilfitri remains a highly appreciated and awaited initiative to ensure the welfare of them and their families is preserved during the festive season.
Adnan also advised civil servants to be wise in managing the finances they receive and to use them wisely.
“Additionally, Cuepacs encourages civil servants to also support small traders at Ramadan bazaars and local markets in efforts to boost the people's economy ahead of the Aidilfitri celebration," he also said.
Today, Anwar said the government agreed to distribute the BKK comprising RM500 to civil servants on Grade 56 and below, and RM250 to all government retirees who will receive their RM250 on Monday (March 24).
