ISKANDAR PUTERI, March 26 (Bernama) -- A total of 26,933 healthcare workers in Johor will receive a special Hari Raya Aidilfitri assistance of RM100 in early April.
State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the assistance, totalling RM2.6 million, was approved during the State Executive Council meeting today.
“This marks the first time in the state government's history that 'duit raya' is given as a token of appreciation to healthcare staff,” he told a press conference after officiating the Medical and Non-Medical Asset contribution ceremony for three health clinics.
Ling also said that Johor, through the state budget, is supporting the upgrade of facilities at the Gelang Patah Health Clinic, Majidee Health Clinic and Tebrau Health Clinic, including providing ambulances.
“The state government, in collaboration with the private sector, is also contributing medical and non-medical equipment to these three clinics. We welcome more private entities to participate in such contributions through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives,” he added.
The state government is also identifying a new location to relocate maternal and child healthcare services from the Gelang Patah Health Clinic to alleviate congestion, he said.
