KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- The National women's football team faces a tough task to qualify for the finals of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup after being drawn in Group H alongside three-time champions North Korea.
During the draw held at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) House today, apart from North Korea, Malaysia will also meet Palestine and Tajikistan who will host the qualifiers scheduled to take place from June 23 to July 5.
According to the format of the qualifying rounds, only the group champions will advance to the finals which will take place in Australia from March 1-21 next year.
For the record, the last time Malaysia qualified for the Women's Asian Cup was in 1995 when it hosted the tournament while the national team's best ever performance in the tournament was a third-place finish in 1983 which took place in Thailand.
