GAZA CITY/ISTANBUL, March 27 (Bernama-Anadolu) – At least 20 more Palestinians were killed in fresh Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Thursday amid a deadly onslaught on the enclave, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing medics.
Israeli warplanes struck a home in the Al-Saftawi neighbourhood, north of Gaza City, leaving seven people dead, a medical source said.
One Palestinian was also killed in another airstrike targeting a home near Al-Quds University in Gaza City, he added.
Another medical source said that two more people, including a disabled person, were killed by Israeli army fire in southern Gaza City.
Seven additional people were killed and two others injured in another strike targeting a home in the northern town of Beit Lahia, the source added.
A Palestinian child was also killed, and his family members were injured, in Israeli shelling of their home in the southern city of Khan Younis.
Israeli fighter jets also shelled a tent sheltering displaced people, killing one person and injuring several others in Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, a medical source said.
Medics reported that Hamas spokesman Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern town of Jabalia early on Thursday.
Israeli army forces also shelled the eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis, the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps in central Gaza, and Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia in the north of the enclave, witnesses said.
The Israeli army launched a surprise aerial campaign on the Gaza Strip on March 18, killing 855 people, injuring nearly 1,900, and shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas that had taken hold in January.
The UN estimated that around 124,000 Palestinians have been displaced again since Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza.
More than 50,200 Palestinians have been killed - mostly women and children - and over 113,900 injured in a brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 2023.
