SIBU, March 28 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Bintulu branch has seized goods worth RM420,741 in 29 inspections and raids conducted at business premises in Bintulu town, from January until yesterday.

The branch’s head Al Redzamani Abdul Razak said during this period, his team inspected 2,730 business premises in the area.

“The inspections and raids uncovered various trade and consumer-related offences, resulting in a total compound of RM3,800,” he said in a statement, today.

He emphasised KPDN's commitment to enforcing compliance, particularly during the implementation of the Festival Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Aidilfitri 2025, effective March 24 to April 7.

A total of 22 items have been listed as price-controlled under the SHMMP.

Among the items listed are imported beef, ikan kembung, ikan selayang, tomatoes, red chillies, imported round cabbage, long beans, cucumbers, sawi hijau (mustard leaf), imported old ginger, imported onions, yellow onions, Chinese garlic, imported potatoes, dried chilli, peanuts, coconut and grated coconut.

Al Redzamani urged traders in Bintulu, including in Sebauh and Tatau, to adhere to the set guidelines, and refrain from arbitrarily increasing the prices of controlled items.

“Any trader found violating the regulations may face action under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011,” he stressed.

He also encouraged the public to report any price-related complaints through WhatsApp (019-848 8000), email (eaduan@kpdn.gov.my), the call centre (1-800-886-800), or the KPDN's Ez ADU mobile application.
