UPGRADING WORKS ON ONE-WAY ROUTE IN TAPAH TO BEGIN APRIL 7

IPOH, March 28 (Bernama) -- Upgrading works on the one-way traffic system in Tapah town will start on April 7 and is expected to be completed by April 30.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the federal government has allocated RM2.2 million to fund this project’s first phase. It involves converting the temporary route into a permanent one, resurfacing work, constructing dividers, installing signboards, and painting new street markings.

The second phase includes the construction of a new bypass later this year, funded through an RM17 million state allocation. It provides an alternative route for motorists travelling between Cameron Highlands, Kampar, and Bidor without passing through Tapah town.

“The state government is confident that once both phases are completed, not only will traffic flow be smoother, business activities, tourism movement, logistics delivery, and community activities will also become more efficient and safer,” he said in a press conference here today.

The press conference addressed concerns regarding the one-way traffic dispersion system in Tapah town.

The Menteri Besar acknowledged that the initial phase of the traffic diversion, introduced eight months ago, caused several issues, including longer travel distances, damaged and pothole-ridden roads, economic impacts on local businesses, and confusion among non-local road users.

Meanwhile, Saarani said the state government will deploy enforcement and security agencies to manage traffic flow and ease public movement due to traffic congestion during the Aidilfitri festive season and the Ayer Kuning state by-election from April 12 to 26.
