KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- The spirit of goodwill and unity continues to flourish among the staff of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) through various initiatives throughout Ramadan, leading up to the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said from the sahur sessions with firefighters to the distribution of dates and the Ihya Ramadan event, KPKT is not only enhancing the festive atmosphere but also strengthening the spirit of togetherness.

He said it aligns with the KPKT slogan which is unity in diversity that is the strength of Malaysia.

“As usual, we have decorated the KPKT lobby with a beautiful and enchanting Eid Mubarak theme to enliven the festive atmosphere and strengthen the bonds of kinship among the KPKT community," he said in a statement today.

“At KPKT, we are always proud to celebrate various major festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, and Chinese New Year together with the KPKT staff who come from various races, ethnicities and religions."

Nga said celebrating together the main festivals in the country in a peaceful and harmonious manner is a great blessing for every citizen.

Therefore, he emphasised that the people must reject voices that try to divide them because unity is the foundation of the country's stability and progress.

Earlier, as a token of appreciation to frontliners who have sacrificed to ensure the safety of the people, Nga went down to the field to have sahur sessions with firefighters in Kuala Lumpur at the beginning of Ramadan, and also made surprise visits to distribute dates to the KPKT staff.

Nga said that leading up to Aidilfitri, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has also frozen leave for 70 per cent of its members to enhance their level of preparedness in ensuring public safety through Ops Siaga Raya.

At the same time, the ministry is also intensifying initiatives such as collaborating with the private sector to upgrade public toilets in Rest and Recreation (R&R) areas, so that people can enjoy clean and comfortable toilet facilities during their journey back to their hometowns.
