MAIPS STRENGTHENS MOSQUE ROLE AS COMMUNITY HUB THROUGH IJTIMAK AMIL PROGRAMME

KANGAR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Ijtimak Amil Programme, an initiative by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), serves as a vital effort to enhance the role of mosques as active community centres, fostering engagement with local residents, particularly the underprivileged and those in need.

MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the programme goes beyond just distributing aid as it embodies the concept of 'dakwah bil hal' (preaching through actions), creating a meaningful impact by directly connecting zakat contributors with recipients in an atmosphere of compassion and social responsibility.

“Through the 'Ziarah Dakwah Bil Hal' approach, mosque committees across Perlis actively engage with the community by visiting homes, checking on residents' well-being and delivering aid firsthand.

“This initiative not only strengthens ties between ‘amil’ (zakat collectors), the community and mosques but also reinforces the role of mosques in spreading Islamic teachings in a direct and holistic manner,” he said in a statement today.

According to the statement, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, officiated the Ziarah Dakwah Bil Hal' distribution initiative as part of the third edition of the 2025 Ijtimak Amil Programme. The event, held recently at Al-A’la mosque in Behor Temak, saw the disbursement of RM1.22 million in funds.

The Ijtimak Amil Programme continues to serve as a platform for strengthening the spirit of collective responsibility in managing zakat with integrity and wisdom, which aligns with MAIPs' goal of positioning Perlis as a model state for transparent and effective zakat governance.
