SEREMBAN, April 4 (Bernama) -- Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) has come to the aid of one of its students who was affected by the recent gas explosion and fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.
Ainaa Syazana Mohamad Asnawi, 22, a student of the Faculty of Leadership and Management, was among those forced to flee their homes following the blast. Her family’s house was damaged, and part of their car was scorched in the incident.
In response, USIM has extended financial assistance through its Centre for Endowment and Zakat (PWZ) and is providing psychological support during her recovery.
“We’re deeply concerned about her wellbeing,” said USIM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Sharifudin Md Shaarani.
“This assistance is a small gesture to help ease the burden on her and her family,” he said in a statement today.
Ainaa, who is currently staying at a temporary relief centre in Putra Heights, said the tragedy had reshaped her festive season.
“This year’s Aidilfitri is unlike any other. There’ll be no family visits, no cooking together, no open house.
“But I’m grateful we’re still here, safe and together,” she noted.
She also expressed appreciation for the university’s support and the encouragement she’s received from friends and the wider community.
“I’m touched by everyone who’s reached out. It gives me strength to get through this,” she added.
