KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The country’s sports fraternity suffered a great loss with the passing of veteran sportswriter, editor and publisher, R.D Selva at 4pm today, in a home near here at the age of 78.
The passing of the Selva who was a person with immense knowledge in writing sports news, was confirmed by his close friend George Dass when contacted by Bernama.
The late Selva was best known as the editor and publisher of the popular sports magazine All Sports, Sports Mirror and several special editions of the FIFA World Cup.
“He was the man who gave me a job as a sports reporter and my career bloomed from then on. Will always be ever grateful to Selva. Sports Mirror did investigative stories. One such story Sports Mirror broke was bookies involved in the 1981 Malaysia Cup Final,” he said.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Crematorium starting 1.30pm (April 11).
