ASIAN LNG PRICES EASE PROMPTING BUYING INTEREST FROM SOME ASIAN IMPORTERS -- RYSTAD ENERGY

16/04/2025 06:11 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Asian liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices fell this week, prompting opportunistic buying from some Asian importers, said Rystad Energy senior analyst Masanori Odaka today.

He said the drop was driven by softer downstream demand, although supply disruptions in Australia and Brunei slowed further price declines.

“While some Asian importers moved quickly to lock in lower prices, others remained cautious amid market uncertainty, partly fueled by renewed concerns over trade tensions, as well as comfortable storage levels,” Masanori said in a market update for gas and LNG today.

Prices of Asian LNG derivatives for June fell 2.0 per cent week-on-week on April 15 while Dutch Title Transfer Facility June prices dropped 2.4 per cent, both to US$11.40 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
