IPOH, April 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 53 cases of failing to display the pink-coloured price tags and other price tags, involving a compound value of RM5,500, were detected during the implementation period of the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025.
Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs (KPDN) director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said that the offences were detected through 520 inspections conducted on retail, wholesale, and manufacturing premises throughout the state from March 24 to April 7.
"Based on the monitoring and enforcement by KPDN and public feedback, the implementation of the SHMMP for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 went smoothly and successfully.
"The KPDN did not receive any official complaints from the public regarding sales exceeding the set prices during the implementation period," he said at a press conference for the Perak KPDN Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration event at the Dewan Kenanga, Bangunan Persekutuan near here today.
Elaborating further, Kamalludin said that from January to April 16, the Perak KPDN had conducted 37,147 inspections and operations at business premises, and action had been taken on 503 cases under various acts.
"The Perak KPDN also issued compounds totalling RM287,650 to traders for various offences during the same period.
"In addition, the total value of confiscated goods exceeded RM1 million, and KPDN recorded more than 698 complaints from the public," he said.
He also said that they received more than 268 complaints related to prices, online transactions (97), controlled goods (96), misleading services (71), vehicle workshops (40) and other complaints (126).
"The success of the state KPDN operations is due to the cooperation of the public who always provide information regarding misconduct among traders. For example, the communication used by the public on the TikTok social media application also contributes to the success of the operations and inspections carried out," he added.
