PAALS TARGETS 500 MEMBERS TO BOLSTER LIMBANG COMMUNITY NETWORK

PETALING JAYA, April 20 (Bernama) – Persatuan Anak-Anak Limbang di Semenanjung (PAALS) is targeting a membership of 500 in an effort to strengthen community ties and foster closer relationships among Limbang natives residing in Peninsular Malaysia.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said the association currently has more than 200 members, and various initiatives are actively underway to increase the number through a zonal approach based on geographical areas.

“We have introduced a zonal system such as the northern, southern and eastern zones to facilitate the organisation of local-level programmes and make it easier for members to participate in activities,” he told reporters at the PAALS Ramah Tamah Berdudun Raya gathering at Wisma Prasarana here today.

Hasbi said PAALS not only aims to strengthen the bonds among Limbang natives but also serves as an inclusive welfare and social platform encompassing various ethnicities such as Malays, Ibans and others originating from Limbang.

“Programmes like this help promote harmony and mutual understanding among the races, in line with the age-old practices of Sarawak’s multiracial and multi-religious society,” he said.

Hasbi, who is also the Advisor to PAALS, further encouraged members to utilise the association as a platform for economic empowerment and personal development.

“Many Limbang natives in Peninsular Malaysia are salaried workers, entrepreneurs, and some even run private clinics. Through the association, we can support one another in advancing ourselves and our families,” he said.
