JOHOR BAHRU, April 21 (Bernama) -- The mother of two siblings who died in an accident at the Simpang Empat Felda Ulu Tebrau traffic lights in Ulu Tiram, here last night while returning after a hari raya celebration, accepts the fate that has befallen her loved ones.
Asilah Minhat, 38, who has separated from her husband, said Nuraisyah Amalin Zaibur, 20, and Ammar Saifullah, 15, were returning home after celebrating at their father Zaibur Burhan, 47, and aunt’s house in Bukit Tiram, near here.
She said the fatal incident involving her eldest daughter and second son was only known after being contacted by a friend of her son.
"Before the incident, there was no change in the behaviour or attitude of my two children...they were just normal. It was fated and I have to accept it. I cried a lot but my tears would not be able to change what has already happened. I have to accept their loss," said the single mother when met at the Forensic Medicine Department of Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), here today.
According to her, Nuraisyah Amalin had just finished sitting for the STPM examination, while Ammar Saifullah is a form three student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Felda Ulu Tebrau.
According to her, both were buried today at the Felda Ulu Tebrau Muslim Cemetery Waqf Land after Zohor prayers.
The two siblings who were riding on a Honda motorcycle died in an accident with a Toyota Estima multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at around 9.50pm.
Seri Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak was quoted as saying that during the accident, Ammar was riding the motorcycle with his sister seated behind and coming from the direction of Jalan Ledang towards Felda Ulu Tebrau.
“Upon reaching the scene, the motorcycle rider is believed to have made a right turn, ignoring the red traffic light and at the same time, a Toyota Estima driven by a 40-year-old local man, who was proceeding straight on a green light, was unable to avoid the collision and hit the motorcycle, resulting in both rider and pillion rider thrown into the opposite lane,” he said.
