KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- Four Super League clubs have successfully obtained the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Club Licensing for the 2024-2025 cycle, according to the First Instance Body (FIB) Committee today.

FIB chairman Sheikh Mohd Nasir Sheikh Mohd Sharif said the clubs that secured the licence were Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT), Selangor FC, Sabah FC and Penang FC.

Super League champions JDT have qualified to play in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Elite (ACL Elite) while runners-up Selangor FC will play in the ACL Elite 2.

He said that this decision was reached during the 10th FIB Meeting held at Wisma FAM (Football Association of Malaysia) in Kelana Jaya.

"Six Super League clubs applied for the AFC Club Licensing for the 2024-2025 cycle, namely JDT, Selangor, Sabah, Penang, Terengganu FC and Kedah Darul Aman FC.

"(But) Only four clubs - JDT, Selangor, Sabah, and Penang - obtained the AFC Club Licensing for the 2024-2025 cycle, while Terengganu and Kedah Darul Aman were unsuccessful," he said in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today.

The FIB also expressed hope that more clubs would apply for the licence to ensure that the Super League remains competitive.
