KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- National swimmer Khiew Hoe Yean continued to dominate the pool with two more gold medals on the last day of the 2025 Malaysian Open Swimming Championship at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil here today.

The Kuala Lumpur swimmer won the men’s 200 metre (m) individual medley with a time of 2 minutes 03.29 seconds (s), improving on his national record of 2:03.77s set at the same championship in 2023, while Sarawakian Hii Puong Wei (2:05.50s) took second and Lo Tsz Lam (2:06.32s) of Hong Kong finished third.

"It’s hard to describe in words as I totally didn’t expect to break the national record in this event. But I feel the conditions were good in the morning, and when I was warming up.

"Actually, I only expected to set a time of about 2:04s but didn’t expect to be so fast. I’m very happy, so I will focus on upcoming championships,” he said after the race.

The 22-year-old then led the Kuala Lumpur team to win the 4x100 m men’s team medley for his eighth gold of the championship with a time of 3:46.93s, while Selangor came second (3:51.39s) and Hong Kong third (3:55.09s).

Ho Yean’s other gold medals came from the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 400m free style, 200m backstroke and 4x200m freestyle.
