KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Track II Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions (NADI) is being held at Resorts World Awana Genting Highland in Pahang from today until Thursday.

The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a statement today that the meeting, held in Malaysia in conjunction with the country’s chairmanship of ASEAN this year, brought together 43 delegations from 13 ASEAN institutions, including Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM).

According to the ministry, NADI serves as a platform for continuous dialogue and intellectual exchange among defence and security think tanks from ASEAN member countries.

It added that NADI was established to complement and support the formal processes of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM).

“NADI also plays an important role in strengthening relationships, building regional confidence, and serving as a platform for sharing relevant strategic perspectives on various security issues affecting the Southeast Asian region, as well as further strengthening defence diplomacy,” said the ministry.

The opening session of the meeting was officiated by chief executive of the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) Lt Gen Datuk Seri Muhammad Huzaimi Sabri, who is also the chairman of this year’s meeting.

MINDEF deputy secretary-general (Management) Datin Roszanina Wahab, who represented the secretary-general, was also present to deliver a keynote address titled ASEAN Unity for Security and Prosperity.

The meeting focuses on two key areas of discussion, namely the Strategic Role of ADMM in Addressing the Complex and Diverse Challenges Facing ASEAN Unity and Harnessing Emerging Technologies to Strengthen ASEAN Unity: A Strategic Perspective from ADMM.
