SINGAPORE GE2025: VOTER TURNOUT HITS 48 PCT BY NOON, OVERSEAS STATIONS IN FULL SWING

SINGAPORE, May 3 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,261,449 Singaporeans had cast their votes at the 1,240 polling stations across the country as of 12pm on Saturday, according to the Elections Department (ELD).

In an update on its social media channels, the department said this figure represents approximately 48 per cent of the 2,627,026 eligible voters in all contested electoral divisions.

Voters are choosing from 11 political parties and two independent candidates to contest the remaining 92 parliamentary seats across 32 constituencies.

The People’s Action Party (PAP) secured five seats uncontested at the Marine Parade–Braddell Heights Group Representation Constituency (GRC) on nomination day .

Polling stations are open from 8 am to 8 pm. Voting is compulsory in Singapore.

In addition to domestic polling, 10 overseas polling stations are operating from 8 am to 8 pm local time in their respective cities. These stations must close no later than the official closing time in Singapore.

The overseas polling stations are located in Dubai, London, Washington D.C., New York, San Francisco, Canberra, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Meanwhile, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), in an update on Facebook at noon, said there was extremely heavy departure traffic at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints this morning.

Travellers can expect delays up to five hours and are advised to check traffic conditions before embarking on their journey.
