KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Selangor is set to take centre stage in global technology as it welcomes the world’s leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors at the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2025, from Oct 8 to 11.

The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) said the convention, themed “AI x Semiconductor: Blitzscaling Malaysia’s Deep Tech”, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and Grand Hyatt, here.

In a statement today, it said the convention reflects Selangor’s bold ambition to accelerate Malaysia’s digital economy and establish itself as a regional hub for deep-tech innovation.

“As one of the flagship events under the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025, SDEC amplifies the state’s global standing by bringing together technology, innovation, and investment under a single platform,” it said.

Meanwhile, Sidec chief executive officer (CEO) Yong Kai Ping said the convention serves as a platform where Malaysia meets the world, with Selangor proud to spearhead the nation’s deep-tech journey by convening global experts, investors and innovators.

“This convention is not only a showcase of ideas but also a platform to create real opportunities for talent and startups,” he said in the statement.

According to Sidec, the opening day of the convention on Oct 8 will spotlight the country’s next generation innovators, with audiences set to witness the Final Demo Day for Retail-X and Deep-X participants, the flagship Twin Accelerator Programme run by Sidec.

“These top startups and SMEs will pitch their solutions to investors, corporate partners, and ecosystem leaders, showcasing Selangor’s commitment to nurturing high-growth enterprises,” it said.

On Oct 9, the Semiconductor Summit will feature world-class leaders, including former chief technology officer of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and senior vice-president of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) Prof Jack Sun and vice-president of sales for Synopsys Robert Li.
The main keynote will be delivered by chief executive officer of Tenstorrent Jim Keller, with a special address by president of Arm ASEAN and vice president of North America Sales CK Tseng.

They will be joined by senior representatives from Intel Foundry, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), X-Fab Sarawak, SilTerra Malaysia, Infinecs System, Oppstar, SkyeChip Malaysia, and Tenasic Malaysia, alongside distinguished experts and industry associations driving Southeast Asia’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Sidec said that the AI Innovation Summit will be held on the third day of the convention, which will spotlight cutting-edge innovators including Cortical Labs CEO, Dr Hon Weng Chong, and CEO and founder of FuriosaAI, June Paik.

They will be joined by global investors such as 500 Global and Plug and Play APAC, as well as pioneers from YTL AI Labs, DF Automation & Robotics, HelloWorld Robotics, Shieldbase AI, Lekir Tech, and Agmo Group, together with top venture capitalists and startup founders shaping the global AI revolution.

Sidec said the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day (MSRD), the nation’s largest career fair for semiconductor engineers, will take place throughout the four-day convention.

MSRD will feature global leaders such as AMD, Infineon Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments Malaysia, and NSW Inc. joining forces with homegrown champions including Maistorage Technology, Cortical Labs, SMD Semiconductor, HexoSys, SkyeChip Technology, Weeroc Space, Melexis Malaysia, Adoresys, Sophic Automation, Tenasic Technology, and Oppstar Technology.

Seats are limited for this landmark event and registration can be made at bit.ly/sidec2025.
