BUDI95 QUOTAS FOR E-HAILING DRIVERS BASED ON FUEL USAGE, DETAILS OCT 15 – AMIR HAMZAH

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Eligibility for additional quotas under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative for e-hailing and p-hailing drivers will be determined based on their fuel consumption,  Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said.

Speaking to newsmen after the launch of the 2024 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) report here today, he said further details will be announced on Oct 15.

“We have assured that by the middle of this month, on Oct 15, e-hailing and p-hailing drivers will know their eligibility under BUDI95. Full-time drivers who consume more fuel will receive higher quotas,” he said.

Amir Hamzah, who is also carrying out the duties and functions of the economy minister, said the government has received partial data from e-hailing companies via the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), and the information is being reviewed to ensure the subsidy is distributed accurately.

“I have not seen the full report submitted by APAD to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) yet, but calculations can be made from APAD data — for example, if a driver covers 5,000 kilometres, we can calculate the additional quota they need.

“The important thing is that there is proof the fuel is actually being used. We don’t want to grant extra quota if it’s not genuinely used,” he said.

Under the targeted BUDI95 subsidy, over 16 million Malaysians enjoy the subsidised RON95 price of RM1.99 per litre compared with RM2.60 per litre without the subsidy.

MoF announced on Oct 1 that e-hailing drivers do not need to apply individually, as the government will coordinate with e-hailing operators (EHO) for group applications.
