KPDN CALLS ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT, FREIGHT COMPANIES, TO TAP INTO RON95 SUBSIDY VIA MYSUBSIDI PLATFORM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is calling on more public transport and freight companies to apply for fuel subsidies under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS), accessible through the MySubsidi platform.

Senior Assistant Director of KPDN’s Petroleum Regulatory Division, Noriqram Mohd Nor, said the initiative is designed to ensure government assistance reaches eligible sectors more efficiently.

“In line with the targeted RON95 subsidy announcement on Sept 30, KPDN has developed the SKPS system to implement subsidy distribution in a more focused and systematic manner.

“Through SKPS, eligible commercial vehicles can enjoy a subsidised price of RM2.05 per litre, compared to the current market rate of RM2.60 per litre,” he said during an interview on Bernama Radio today.

Around 100,000 vehicles are estimated to be eligible under the scheme, which covers nine categories of public land transport, including taxis, school buses, and rental cars, as well as 12 categories of freight transport, such as lorries, catering vans, cargo vans, and rigid vans for mobile services.

Additionally, the subsidy now extends to a newly added category, namely the public water transport, which includes passenger boats registered with the Marine Department of Malaysia, the Sabah Ports and Harbour Department, or the Sarawak Rivers Board, to ensure that fuel subsidies also benefit operators in remote and riverine areas.

“Applications have been open since Sept 15 via the official portal at mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my. However, applicants must ensure that their road tax is valid and updated before the 28th of each month for approval,” he added.

As of Oct 12, Noriqram reported that 12,323 companies have registered, with 24,037 vehicles confirmed as eligible under SKPS.

He said the system is operated through a digital fuel card or ‘Fleet Card’ issued by six major oil companies, namely Petronas, Shell, Petron, Caltex, BHP, and Five, allowing real-time monitoring to curb fuel leakage and smuggling.

“This approach also offers flexibility for companies to choose up to three fuel providers, depending on the availability of stations in their operational areas,” he explained.

For companies yet to receive their fleet cards when the subsidy targeting began, reimbursement claims can be submitted by uploading fuel purchase receipts dated between Sept 30 and Oct 31, 2025. Verified claims will be credited to company accounts within 15 days of confirmation.

For more information, the public may contact the KPDN hotline in Putrajaya, reach out to any state office, or visit KPDN’s Customer Service Day counters held periodically nationwide.
