SEREMBAN, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,778 skilled individuals and 33 registered companies in Negeri Sembilan have participated in the Academy in Industry (ADI) programme introduced by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to date.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the programme serves as a bridge between the education and industry sectors, thereby strengthening the efficiency and productivity of the country’s workforce.
“The encouraging participation of companies and skilled students in the ADI programme reflects industry confidence in the effectiveness of the workplace-based training approach implemented by the MPC.
“This initiative also supports the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) target of increasing labour productivity growth by 3.6 per cent annually and raising the ratio of workers’ compensation to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 40 per cent by 2030, in line with the implementation of the progressive wage policy,” he said.
He said this when officiating the closing ceremony of the Negeri Sembilan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Carnival 2025 here today.
Aminuddin said the implementation of the ADI programme is in line with the government’s commitment to boost national productivity by enhancing the skills and competencies of the workforce, towards achieving the target of a 35 per cent skilled workforce by 2030.
On the TVET Carnival, the Port Dickson Member of Parliament (MP) said the inaugural programme aims to bring together public and private education institutions at both school and higher education levels, as well as government agencies and the local community, to strengthen the skills ecosystem in the state.
“At the state level, TVET plays a vital role in producing a highly skilled workforce, which forms the backbone of Negeri Sembilan’s economic growth, particularly in supporting the development of the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 initiative.
“In addition, the development of TVET is also crucial in empowering rural communities through training in modern agriculture, entrepreneurship, construction and rural tourism,” he said, adding that more than 80 accredited centres are currently operating in the state.
He added that TVET provides opportunities for rural youth to enhance their skills, generate income and build a better future, while emphasising the need for greater collaboration among all stakeholders to support and strengthen the TVET ecosystem in the state.
During the ceremony, Aminuddin also presented the state’s Outstanding TVET Student Award to Muhammad Luqman Arif Hissham, 19, a Building Construction Technology Certificate student from Kolej Komuniti Jelebu, in recognition of his excellence in producing green innovation products made from waste wood.
Met after the ceremony, Muhammad Luqman Arif said his success was the result of continuous guidance and encouragement from his lecturers to be creative and develop practical skills.
“The wood-based products I created using recycled materials were inspired by my lecturer’s guidance, who encouraged us to make full use of available resources to generate income,” he said, adding that he also sells his products at the college and on online platforms.
