He said this is to ensure the nation’s energy security remains safeguarded to support socioeconomic growth as well as the transition to a low-carbon economy.
“The main focus now is to increase the share of renewable energy (in power generation mix) to 35 per cent by 2030, expand open grid access, and intensify investments in green and new energy technologies, in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan to strengthen the national energy system to be more innovative, competitive, and inclusive to safeguard the people’s well-being and Malaysia’s future sustainability,” he said in a post on the X platform today.
Anwar chaired the meeting, which was MTN’s second for the year and in relation to the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) tabled by the Economy Ministry.
He said the council also agreed on the electricity demand and supply projections for data centres based on the latest assessment by the Energy Commission.
“In addition, the meeting approved the development of an e-mobility service platform that will integrate and coordinate the operations of electric vehicle charging stations nationwide,” he said.
