MACHANG, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Police have confirmed that two followers of the Ayah Pin deviant sect were among the 13 individuals detained after gathering outside Istana Negeri in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu, on Tuesday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the two individuals are in their 40s. Police also conducted urine tests on them, and five tested positive for drugs.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that they intended to hand over old items such as machetes, swords, and spears to Sultan Muhammad VI (the incoming Sultan of Kelantan).

“The roles of several other individuals, including Orang Asli participants, are still under investigation,” he told reporters when met today at Dewan Profesional, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Machang campus.

The case is being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code and Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that a woman and three Orang Asli were among the 13 individuals, aged between 26 and 67, who were remanded for four days after participating in the illegal gathering.
