TEKUN NASIONAL PARTNERS WITH AKPK TO STRENGTHEN LOAN REPAYMENT MECHANISM

13/11/2025 08:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) will collaborate with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) to strengthen its loan repayment mechanism and ensure revolving funds can continue to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the collaboration will allow non-performing loan (NPL) accounts to be restructured through AKPK’s credit management programme, providing micro borrowers with more financial stability to resume fulfilling their commitments.

He said that apart from the AKPK system, borrowers’ NPL accounts are also reported to credit bureaus such as Experian and CTOS to ensure continuous monitoring and more structured follow-up actions.

“We are also intensifying collections through more effective and active assistance services, in addition to tightening approvals for new applications.

“Through the ongoing nationwide loan repayment campaign, we have recorded quite encouraging results as the current NPL rate has already dropped to a single-digit figure,” he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 for his ministry at the committee stage in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Earlier, a total of 12 Members of Parliament took part in the debate for the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

The Dewan Rakyat later approved the operating and development expenditure totalling RM1,030,172,700 for the ministry under Budget 2026 after receiving more votes in favour.

In addition to KUSKOP, the Dewan Rakyat also approved the operating and development expenditure totalling RM1,567,627,800 for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) for 2026, following debate by 20 Members of Parliament.

The sitting will resume on Monday.
