KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s steadfast commitment towards Sabah has given new drive to the aspirations of Moyog constituents for continued development and a stable direction, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

The Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister said constituents in Moyog, a seat under the Penampang parliamentary constituency, hoped for leadership that could unite the community and advance development in line with Sabah’s aspirations to be a competitive and dignified state.

He said this confidence was also influenced by the Prime Minister’s consistent presence in Sabah, with each visit marked by clear policies and commitments to drive the state’s development.

“What we see today is a reflection of the people’s confidence in the MADANI Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, a leader who not only visits Sabah regularly but also brings clear policies and commitments each time to strengthen the state’s development,” he said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, Ramanan accompanied Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Remysta Jimmy Taylor for the Moyog seat at the 17th Sabah State Election to the nomination centre at Dewan Kebudayaan Penampang, in the presence of nearly 1,000 PH members and supporters.

Ramanan expressed his appreciation to all grassroots party machinery for their presence and support throughout the nomination process.

The Moyog seat is witnessing a straight contest between candidates from PKR-PH and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Apart from Moyog, the Kapayan state seat has also emerged as a key battleground under the Penampang parliamentary constituency in the state polls.

The Moyog seat was previously held by Warisan, with victories by Jenifer Lasimbang in 2018 and Derrel Liking in 2020.

The 17th Sabah State Election officially kicked off today with the nomination process held at 25 centres for candidates vying for the 73 state seats.
