PANGKOR ISLAND, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Dash are on track to defend their Class 5 title at the Raja Muda of Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR) 2025 after clinching victory in Race 1 from Port Klang to Pangkor Island today.

Skipper Mohd Azhar Sa’don Zubir said he hoped the team could sustain the momentum over the next two races, from the island to Penang and from Penang to Langkawi.

“For me, the Port Klang-Pangkor route is where we map out our tactics. Now we know the tactics and the strengths of our opponents.

“We want to keep our position as champions.  Whoever we come up against, we will give our best and strive for strong, fair competition,” he told Bernama.

He added that he hoped his six-member crew would maintain solid teamwork throughout the remaining two races.

Earlier, Dash topped the first race of Class 5 with a time of 18 hours 13 minutes 31 seconds.

Sade 2 finished second in 18:20.16s, while Lucky Marlin placed third with 19:45.58s.

The nine-day race from Nov 14 to 22 features 23 teams and will continue to Penang before concluding in Langkawi.

The RMSIR, first held in 1990, is the second-oldest regatta in Asia and the brainchild of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was then the Raja Muda of Selangor.
