GUARDIAN MALAYSIA UNVEILS PROFESSIONAL SKINCARE CONSULTATIONS BY ITS PHARMACISTS

17/11/2025 08:41 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Guardian Malaysia has announced that its pharmacists nationwide are now Certified Derma Experts, enabling them to professionally advise shoppers on skincare, particularly in derma care and sensitive skin needs.

Guardian, in a statement, said a private preview attended by nearly 150 media representatives, influencers and invited shoppers was held recently, offering guests first-hand, personalised one-on-one consultations with the Certified Derma Experts, alongside skin health check counters, skincare solution booths and a workshop session.

According to the statement, its pharmacists have undergone enhanced training supported by an AI-powered Skin Health Check tool designed in Korea, which will be introduced across Guardian stores nationwide and provides 12 skin insights, including wrinkles, dark circles, blemishes, pores and acne in just three minutes.

Guardian Malaysia managing director Priscilla Wu said the move reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening professional skincare advisory services across its outlets.

“As the trusted and preferred go-to-destination for everything skincare, Guardian Malaysia is proud to be the first health & beauty retailer in this country to champion the need for pharmacists to be derma skin experts,” she was quoted as saying.

She said the initiative is carried out through Guardian’s Radiance Academy, which works with brand partners to develop a structured curriculum addressing increasing skin health concerns among Malaysians, such as eczema, acne, hyper-pigmentation and sensitive skin.

As part of the curriculum, pharmacists are exposed to curated topics on skin health conducted by brand experts and leading Malaysian dermatologists.

Wu also noted that expert advice should not be confused with information sourced from the internet or hearsay, adding that Guardian’s AI-powered skin analysis and pharmacists’ derma certification support the company’s intention to offer personalised and accurate skincare guidance.

“The roll-out of our AI-powered Skin Health Check and your pharmacist’s certification of Derma Expertise underline Guardian Malaysia’s commitment to empowering you with the right knowledge and guidance towards healthier skin,” she said.

Meanwhile, dermatologist Dr Ch’ng Chin Chwen, who was present at the event, reminded Malaysians of the importance of skin health.

“Many Malaysians forget that the skin is our body’s largest organ. It acts as an important ‘shield’ for the individual’s protection, sensory organ, synthesis of Vitamin D and regulation of the body temperature.

“Therefore, it is important to care for the skin given its critical and multi-faceted role in supporting an individual’s health and well-being,” she said.

She added that access to expert-level advice can be further enhanced and that knowledge empowers individuals to understand what is affecting their skin health, enabling them to choose the right solutions for improvement.

Guardian stated that members of the public with derma skin concerns are encouraged to consult the Certified Derma Experts, while MYguardian Rewards members will receive reward vouchers and sample kits.
