TAMPARULI SET TO BECOME A FULL DISTRICT IF GRS RETURNS TO POWER – HAJIJI

23/11/2025 07:25 PM

TAMPARULI, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Tamparuli has the potential to be considered for elevation to full district status if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) continues to govern after the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Speaking at the Mega Campaign held at Tamu Baharu Tamparuli site, Hajiji, who is also GRS Chairman, called on all voters to deliver victory to GRS candidates in their respective constituencies, especially in the Tamparuli seat.

“There is much that GRS will implement if we win. We will continue the initiatives previously introduced, in addition to considering Tamparuli as a full district. However, the people of Tamparuli must ensure that GRS candidate for Tamparuli, Dr Bonaventure Boniface, wins.

“When Dr Bonaventure wins, he will bring forward the application for Tamparuli to be made a full district for us to implement. Previously, we realised this by elevating Sook and Paitan to full district status,” he said at the event also attended by Kiulu seat candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

Tamparuli is located in the Tuaran parliamentary constituency and is a small town situated about 38 kilometres from the Kota Kinabalu city centre.

Elaborating further, Hajiji said that throughout five years of governing, the Sabah government under GRS leadership has demonstrated success across various sectors and implemented initiatives that have benefited the people.

“We have various initiatives which we have undeniably succeeded in delivering. Only those who refuse to see it, or choose not to know, will deny what the GRS government has achieved over the past five years,” he said.

Hajiji said among the initiatives implemented is theSentuhan Kasih Rakyat 2025 (SYUKUR) programme, which provides RM300 assistance to 100,000 low-income individuals in Sabah, as well as other aid for senior citizens aged 60 and above.

He said GRS would also assist the people in purchasing their first home priced below RM500,000 by covering the deposit if the coalition returns to power.

In this election, GRS is contesting 55 out of the 73 state seats available.

The Election Commission has set polling day for Nov 29, while early voting will take place on Nov 25.
