LIBARAN, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to empowering women through the establishment of a Sabah Women, Family and Community Development Ministry if it is given the mandate in the 17th state election.
Sabah UMNO Information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, who is also the candidate for the Sungai Sibuga state seat, said the establishment of a state-level women’s ministry would be a “game changer” in elevating the living standards of women.
“The establishment of this ministry is a real revolution for Sabah women. It is not just an election promise but a strategic move that will change the social and economic landscape of the state,” he said in a statement today.
He is confident that, through this initiative, BN can bring about real social transformation, elevating the living standards of women and build a more inclusive, progressive and competitive Sabah society.
He added that the establishment of the ministry will also serve as a driver for comprehensive social development policies by focusing on the well-being of women, children and families.
According to Suhaimi, BN also plans to introduce a RM600 i-Suri incentive for housewives, widow and single mothers, as well as training and skills development programmes to help women master entrepreneurial, technological and modern job skills.
Polling day has been fixed for Saturday (Nov 29).
