KLANG, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Kampung Sungai Udang here has been selected as the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (MOSTI) Kampung Angkat MADANI, with RM1.68 million channelled to improve basic infrastructure and implement programmes for community well-being.

MOSTI secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad said the initiative highlighted the ministry’s commitment to empowering communities through science, technology and innovation, ensuring no one, particularly those in villages and suburbs, is left behind.

According to him, under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative, MOSTI received an initial allocation of RM1 million from the Ministry of Finance, and an additional RM680,000 was provided after a review of pressing needs on the ground.

“This step is taken to ensure that the planned facilities truly have an impact, enhance community well-being, and provide activity spaces that are safer, more comfortable and inclusive for all members of the community.

“This approach aligns with the MADANI government’s desire to ensure that no community is left behind and that every village can grow sustainably through improved basic facilities, enhanced social well-being and holistic economic opportunities,” he said during the launch of the programme at Balai Raya Teluk Pulai today.

Also present were Pandamaran assemblyman Leong Tuch Chee, Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) deputy mayor Mohd Zary Affendi Mohd Arif, and Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) Chairman and Kampung Sungai Udang headman Zaki Jamil.

Hasnol Zam Zam said the improvements carried out included the repair of the open-concept hall and Balai Raya Rumah Murah Sungai Udang, road resurfacing, construction of covered activity spaces, and upgrading of surau and public facilities at various locations.

He said the allocation allowed the MBDK and JPKK Sungai Udang to carry out physical projects, including the Kampung Sungai Udang landmark and a covered multipurpose court at Amazing Height, as well as community programmes such as Subuh Sekampung and gotong-royong MADANI.

Hasnol Zam Zam said solar lights were also installed at five strategic locations, while repair works on drains and infrastructure along Jalan Sungai Udang were carried out to minimise flash flood risks.

“MOSTI is committed to ensuring that the Kampung Angkat MADANI Programme goes beyond upgrading basic infrastructure, offering the community inclusive and progressive development through science, technology and innovation,” he said.
