KUANTAN, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has reminded the people of the state to remain vigilant during the ongoing monsoon season.

In a statement today, His Royal Highness urged all residents, particularly those in high-risk areas, to stay alert to prevailing conditions and take appropriate safety measures for themselves and their families

“I wish to advise the public, particularly those in flood-prone areas, to exercise caution during this monsoon season, as heavy and continuous rainfall is expected. Parents and guardians should keep a close watch on their children and grandchildren to prevent any untoward incidents,” he said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the public to exercise caution following warnings of Tropical Storm Senyar, which had been detected in the Strait of Malacca and was likely to affect several states along the central and west coasts, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Pahang.

“This is a rare occurrence. Persistent heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods, uprooted trees, and landslides, which may happen anywhere and at any time,” he said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the public to pray for protection from all disasters and calamities and to continue performing solat hajat at mosques and at home.

His Royal Highness urged the public to follow the authorities’ instructions, including relocating to relief centres to ensure their safety.

He also advised road users to exercise caution when driving or riding motorcycles, noting that rainy conditions could increase the risk of accidents.

Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed hope that all relief centres in the state would be kept clean and orderly and called on all parties to cooperate in maintaining hygiene, including in shared toilet facilities.
