MIH 2025 DRIVES HEALTHCARE SHIFT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND INCLUSIVE CARE

28/11/2025 04:43 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2025 conference is serving as a powerful catalyst for national healthcare advancement, driving significant progress in sustainable energy adoption and championing more inclusive patient care.

During the three-day event, organised by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare Berhad, phase two Letters of Award were exchanged between KPJ and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), along with its subsidiary GSPARX Sdn Bhd, to expand the deployment of rooftop solar panels across KPJ hospitals.

In a statement, KPJ highlighted this milestone as a key step in its wider sustainability strategy. "This expansion of rooftop solar deployment across our hospitals is a critical part of our long-term decarbonisation goals, directly contributing to the broader sustainability agenda highlighted at MIH," the Group said.

Another significant initiative unveiled at the event was the Buku Poket Kesihatan Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (Malaysian Sign Language Health Pocket Guide), which was developed with the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf, aiming to bridge the communication gap in healthcare settings.

KPJ said the guide reflects their ongoing commitment to inclusive care by enabling clearer communication between staff and the hearing-impaired community, ultimately enhancing patient safety and accessibility for all.

The event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre also featured thought leadership sessions by recognised specialists. These included Dr Naseem Ghazali, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon from the UK's NHS, and Prof Hoon Sang Lee, chief strategy officer for Research Investment at the Global Health Technology Foundation.

“Discussions explored AI in clinical practice, hospital digitalisation and future-ready care models, with speakers sharing grounded perspectives on strengthening Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem,” it said.

Also taking place was the Grand Finale of the KRAFT Challenge 2025, an initiative by the KPJ Health System designed to foster innovation and talent for more efficient healthcare.

In the Open Category, KPJ Pahang Specialist Hospital won for "Mini Vigo," a project that enhances patient safety by improving surgical count efficiency.

The University Category title was awarded to Universiti Teknologi MARA for "HomeHaven RX," an end-to-end medication management system that supports safer prescribing and continuity of care.

Broadcast live on MIH Live+, the event further expanded its audience through digital interviews with leading experts, such as KPJ Healthcare University vice chancellor, Prof Dr Tunku Kamarul Zaman Tunku Zainol Abidin and Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Fauziah Hasan, who shared valuable perspectives on emerging clinical trends and modern healthcare practices.

The conference continues tomorrow with further expert sessions and public engagement programmes.
