KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- National squash ace S. Sivasangari cleared the opening hurdle at the 2025 Hong Kong Open with an 11-8, 11-8, 11-9 win over England's Lucy Turmel at the Hong Kong Squash Centre today.
In the second round tomorrow, the world number seven will take on Melissa Alves after the Frenchwoman disposed of local hope Tsz-Wing Tong 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 in their first-round clash.
Sivasangari has been in impressive form this season, reaching the semi-finals of the London Squash Classic in September, the quarter-finals of the Egypt Open (September) and Qatar Classic (October) before finishing runner-up at the Silicon Valley Open (Redwood City, US) in October.
Last week, she also emerged as runner-up in the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) Squash Open after losing 6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 4-11 to Egypt’s Fayrouz Aboelkheir.
Another national player, Aifa Azman also advanced to the next round after defeating Egypt’s Zeina Mickawy 11-5, 12-10, 11-6 in 25 minutes.
She will face Egypt’s Amina Orfi next.
Meanwhile, Tinne Gilis from Belgium beat national player Rachel Arnold 11-8, 11-5, 11-3.
