SERDANG, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) 2026 exhibition will take place at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from Aug 28 to Sept 6, said Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
Speaking at the MAHA 2026 pre-launch ceremony here today, he said the biennial event aims to attract four million visitors, 2,000 exhibitors and generate RM58 million in sales.
“The upcoming edition will feature State Pavilions, local and international agricultural technology showcases, laser and water shows, an agro safari and other high-impact segments.
“These activities will not only broaden visitors’ knowledge but also inspire greater interest, especially among youth, to explore opportunities in agriculture,” he said.
MAHA 2026 adopts the theme “Value Creation for Food Security”, reflecting Malaysia’s commitment to building a resilient, technology-driven and high-impact agri-food ecosystem.
Citing findings from the Agriculture Census 2024, Mohamad said 45 per cent of agricultural players are aged 60 and above, while only three per cent are between 15 and 30.
He said the generational gap is a cause for concern, and MAHA 2026 will be a key initiative to encourage more young people to enter the sector.
“We want Malaysia to become one of the main food producers in the region. Hence, greater youth involvement must be mobilised from now, including through MAHA 2026,” he said.
Mohamad further said that international exhibitors have also been invited and are encouraged to collaborate with local companies, particularly in technology transfer.
Recalling the performance of MAHA 2024, he said the event recorded 5.5 million visitors -- surpassing its three-million target -- and achieved RM48.5 million in direct sales.
“This proves that MAHA is more than an exhibition; it is a strategic platform that strengthens the country’s agri-food ecosystem.
“The organisation of MAHA 2026 and its lead-up programmes will highlight Malaysia MADANI values and honour the dedication of farmers, fishermen and livestock breeders,” he said.
