EDUCATION DIRECTOR-GENERAL VISITS FLOOD-HIT SCHOOLS IN PERLIS, KEDAH

KANGAR, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Education director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad spent time engaging with the education community affected by floods in Perlis and Kedah, and praised the resilience of frontline education personnel in facing the disaster.

The Director-General’s office said in a statement today that Mohd Azam’s visit was not just an inspection, but a demonstration of leadership that understood and supported educators and educational institutions.

“From SMK Derma, busy managing the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) question bank, to SK Putra and SJKT Kangar, he met face-to-face with teachers and students.

“He commended the resilience of frontline education personnel who diligently carried out cleaning works and who continue the online teaching and learning method until the situation recovers,” the statement said.

Mohd Azam also delivered key messages on preparedness and the direction of Curriculum 2027.

He also distributed contributions from the Yayasan Guru Tun Hussein Onn (YGTHO) to seven schools affected by the floods, to be used for recovery and cleaning purposes.

According to the statement, Mohd Azam also interacted with and motivated SPM candidates from SMK Syed Putra who were housed at SBPI Kubang Pasu, Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah.

“His presence alongside the directors of Education from both states provided a morale boost for educators and SPM candidates.

“The visit also recognised Ihsan Madani volunteers from IPG (Institut Pendidikan Guru) Perlis, Perlis State Education Department volunteers, and volunteer teams from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) who assisted flood-affected schools with cleaning efforts,” the statement added.
