KOTA BHARU, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) under the Department of Irrigation and Drainage has issued a warning that low-lying and flood-prone areas in Tumpat and Pasir Puteh are likely to experience flooding from Saturday to Sunday.
It said flooding is likely in the two districts as river water levels are projected to rise above danger points.
"Areas at risk in Tumpat include the Sungai Golok Basin (Sungai Golok) and the Sungai Kelantan Basin (Sungai Kelantan). In Pasir Puteh, the Sungai Semerak Basin (Sungai Semerak) is also expected to be affected," it said in a statement today.
PRABN advised residents in the affected areas to stay alert, follow instructions from disaster management agencies, and obtain further information via the PublicInfoBanjir website and Facebook page.
Yesterday, the Meteorological Department forecast that flooding may occur in areas within the river basins, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone locations in Kelantan.
