LENGGONG, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) has built more than 7,000 Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) units in Perak since the programme was introduced in 2002.
Its chairman Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila said the company is now targeting the construction of about 600 units annually in the state.
“With the RMR programme, thousands of families’ dreams of owning their own homes have become a reality,” he told reporters at the handing over of keys for RMR houses to 20 recipients here today.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the state government has allocated a subsidy of RM20,000 for each house offered under the RMR programme.
He said the subsidy is provided as part of the MADANI government’s ongoing efforts to ease the burden on the people.
“In line with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 aspiration, the state government remains committed to ensuring that low- and middle-income groups have access to comfortable and quality homes,” he said.
