MADANI ADOPTED VILLAGE PROGRAMME PROVIDES SKSPS BENEFITS TO 50 KAMPUNG PERAK RESIDENTS

KLUANG, Dec 13  (Bernama) -- Fifty residents of Kampung Perak in Simpang Renggam have benefitted from the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) under the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) through the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia’s (JTKSM) MADANI Adopted Village Programme this year.

JTKSM director-general, Kamal Pardi said the annual contribution for this scheme is fully covered by JTKSM through the MADANI Adopted Village allocation, as part of efforts to encourage self-employed workers to prioritise safety and social protection while working.

“From our review, we found that most of the residents are self-employed in oil palm and rubber farming, as well as house building without a permanent employer, and as such, they are exposed to the risk of workplace accidents,” he said.

“JTKSM has encouraged these individuals to contribute to PERKESO to ensure they have protection in case of accidents or injuries while working,” Kamal told reporters at the launch of the JTKSM MADANI Adopted Village Programme at Kampung Perak here today.

Kampung Perak was selected as JTKSM’s 2025 MADANI Adopted Village based on the need for infrastructure and community facility improvements. The government has allocated RM1 million to implement this programme.

Among the planned projects are the construction of an open hall, the purchase of a funeral van with necessary equipment, and repairs and upgrades to the mosque and community hall, all of which will directly benefit the residents.

Kamal added that the selection of Kampung Perak as a MADANI Adopted Village reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of rural communities, in line with Malaysia MADANI aspirations.

The MADANI Adopted Village Programme aims to reduce urban-rural disparities by improving basic infrastructure in selected villages. Coordinated by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Prime Minister’s Department (JPM), and led by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the initiative involves various ministries and GLCs to enhance rural well-being through a whole-of-government approach.
