FOREST CITY HOLDS FIRE AND EVACUATION SIMULATION WITH MEDIA, EMERGENCY TEAMS

17/12/2025 05:24 PM

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- Forest City today conducted a Fire and Evacuation Simulation Exercise at the Phase 1 Financial Centre involving media practitioners and emergency responders to test preparedness and rescue procedures in a fire scenario.

The exercise involved 11 media practitioners from the Johor Media Club, with two participants simulating injuries, including one acting as unconscious, while others were rescued as part of the drill.

Forest City spokesman Syarul Izam Sarifudin said the exercise was carried out with the participation of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), eight members of the Forest City Fire Rescue Team, 14 auxiliary police officers and 22 policemen.

He said the drill aimed to strengthen readiness and coordination among response teams, while providing reassurance on safety measures for tenants, staff and visitors.

Senior Fire Officer (PBK) Saifulizam Salleh from the Iskandar Puteri fire station said such exercises are important to enhance public awareness and response during emergencies.

“My advice during a fire involving thick smoke is to stay close to the door so it does not take too long for firemen to reach and rescue you,” he said.
