MELAKA, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) will intensify beautification efforts, particularly along the Ayer Keroh Highway, one of the main entry points into the state, in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2.0 (TMM2.0).
Its president, Datuk Sapiah Haron said landscaping and street lighting along the route will be upgraded next year to attract more visitors and tourists.
“We will heed the state government’s call to draw more visitors and tourists, especially to attractive locations under the council’s administration,” she said after the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council Appreciation Awards Ceremony 2025 here today.
Also present was Melaka Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin.
At the ceremony, Bernama’s Melaka Bureau received the Best Media Partnership Award 2025, presented by Zulkiflee to Bernama Melaka bureau chief Mohd Fakri Awang Lah.
Meanwhile, Sapiah said the council aims to win the Most Sustainable City Award at the national-level World Town Planning Day next year to further enhance the image of the local council, adding that the award is the most prestigious accolade at the local authority level as it encompasses all categories, including the Happiest City Award.
The state government is expected to launch TMM2.0 on Dec 31, following the extension of TMM2024 until 2026.
