KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Grab Malaysia, in collaboration with MONSTA and Astro Shaw, marked the close of 2025 by celebrating more than 100 of its driver-partners and delivery-partners with a special screening of the top-grossing local animated film, Papa Zola The Movie.

The screening, held at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) One Utama in Petaling Jaya, involved selected driver- and delivery-partners together with their family members, providing them with an opportunity to spend quality time together during the event.

Grab Malaysia said the event was organised as a show of appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of its driver and delivery partners, who form the backbone of the platform’s services and work tirelessly to support their families.

Director of Country Operations and Mobility at Grab Malaysia, Rashid Shukor, said the special screening was dedicated to recognising the vital role played by drivers and delivery partners in supporting both the platform and their loved ones.

“At Grab Malaysia, we are happy to celebrate our driver- and delivery-partners who are the heart of our platform. This initiative reflects our appreciation for their dedication and hard work, while giving them the opportunity to create meaningful memories with their families,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, director and writer of Papa Zola The Movie and MONSTA chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak said the film reflects the realities faced by many parents, including those earning a living through the gig economy.

“The story mirrors what we see every day. We see this film as a tribute to the silent fighters out there who persevere with strength and determination for their loved ones,” he said.

Executive producer of Papa Zola The Movie and head of Astro Shaw, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, said Astro Shaw was honoured to collaborate with Grab Malaysia in celebrating the driver and delivery partner community.

She said the film highlights themes of sacrifice, love and resilience, and the special screening was a way to express appreciation for the unwavering dedication of the drivers and delivery partners.

As part of the collaboration supporting the local animation industry, Grab also featured the Papa Zola character on its app and through digital out-of-home advertising to strengthen engagement while celebrating the driver and delivery partner community.

Papa Zola The Movie tells the story of a devoted father who works hard to provide for his family before embarking on a mission to rescue his abducted child, with the help of his wife, from alien threats.

The film is currently screening in cinemas across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, and is scheduled for international releases starting January 2026 in Indonesia, followed by India, Vietnam and several Middle Eastern markets, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Turkiye in April 2026.
