IPOH, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- A total of RM25,000 has been allocated to 100 asnaf (eligible for tithe) students from primary and secondary schools to finance their school supplies this year.

Each student received a contribution of RM250 from the Taj International College (TIC), in collaboration with various parties, to purchase school bags and stationery as well as to pay for haircuts.

TIC executive chairman Tina Tajuddin said the company always understands the constraints faced by the asnaf group who need assistance for schooling every time a new school session begins.

“We are collaborating with various parties, including the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), which provides zakat wakalah amounting to RM100 to all recipients of contributions.

"In addition, we also received a generous donation from the Perkep (Malaysian Police Family Association) vice-president Puan Sri Zalena Mohd Ariffin, who also contributed," she said.

She said this when met by reporters after the TIC Prihatin & Community Education Network 2026 and Back To School For Asnaf events, which were officiated by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay here today. Also present was Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
